Anonymous vs. Authenticated Users
FluentPrep AI works for everyone, with or without an account:
Anonymous Users (No Account)
- Full access to all practice tasks and AI feedback
- IP address temporarily logged (24 hours) for rate limiting only
- No progress tracking or saved history
- No personal information collected
Authenticated Users (With Account)
- All anonymous features, plus progress tracking and dashboard
- Email address (for sign-in and account recovery)
- Optional Google OAuth (no password stored if using Google)
- Practice history and performance metrics
- Session tracking (tasks completed, time spent)
Data We Collect
For All Users:
- IP Address: Temporarily logged for 24 hours to prevent abuse via rate limiting. Automatically deleted after 24 hours.
- Audio Recordings: Processed in real-time for AI feedback, never stored permanently on our servers.
For Authenticated Users Only:
- Account Information: Email address, authentication method (email/password or Google OAuth)
- Profile Data: Display name (optional), account creation date
- Practice History: Scores, task types completed, timestamps, performance metrics
- Session Data: Tasks completed per session, total practice time, activity patterns
How We Use Your Data
- Service Delivery: To provide AI feedback, track progress, and display your performance dashboard
- Abuse Prevention: IP-based rate limiting to prevent spam and ensure fair access
- Service Improvement: Anonymous analytics to understand usage patterns and improve features
- Communication: Account-related emails (password resets, important updates, discounts)
Data Retention
- IP Addresses: Automatically deleted after 24 hours
- Audio Recordings: Processed in memory, never written to disk, deleted immediately after analysis
- Practice History: Retained indefinitely while your account is active (can be deleted on request)
- Deleted Accounts: All associated data permanently deleted within 30 days
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all data we have about you
- Correction: Update or correct your account information at any time
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data (self-service deletion coming soon)
- Export: Download your practice history and progress data (coming soon)
- Opt-out: Use the site anonymously without creating an account

AI Training & Data Usage
We do not save or train on your data. Your audio recordings and written responses are processed solely for evaluation and are never stored on our servers or used for any machine learning training purposes by FluentPrep AI.
Children's Privacy
FluentPrep AI is intended for users preparing for the TOEFL exam (typically 16+ years old). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect service changes or legal requirements. Material changes will be announced on the homepage. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
