Hey there! I'm Noah from the Netherlands, and I created FluentPrep AI to help students prepare for the TOEFL 2026 exam. What started as a speaking practice tool has grown into a comprehensive platform covering all 4 sections of the new test format.
I noticed it was extremely difficult to get quality TOEFL feedback without spending hundreds of dollars on expensive prep services like the official TOEFL tests or premium platforms. Students who couldn't afford $30-100+ per practice test were left with subpar alternatives or no practice at all.
That's when I decided to build a tool where AI provides detailed, actionable feedback on your speaking and writing, allowing students to practice effectively without breaking the bank. With the launch of the 2026 format, I expanded to cover all 12 item types across Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.
Traditional TOEFL prep charges $30-50 per practice test with no feedback. FluentPrep AI offers full access to all questions with detailed AI feedback at affordable monthly or prepaid rates. Free tier includes per-section daily question limits (some sections allow fewer questions, no section allows more than 5 per day, subject to change).

We never store your audio recordings permanently. Your privacy matters. Data is processed rapidly and immediately discarded after feedback generation.
FluentPrep AI started as a completely free platform. My original vision was to provide full access to everyone at no cost, supported by donations and advertising revenue. However, I quickly encountered two major obstacles:
Running a full-featured TOEFL prep platform requires substantial infrastructure. Hosting costs for servers and databases, continuous development and maintenance, AI processing for feedback, and TTS audio generation all add up quickly. As usage grew, these combined monthly operational costs became unsustainable without a revenue model. Free access for thousands of users simply wasn't financially viable.
I couldn't get the free site verified for Google Ads due to TOEFL being a high-value keyword with strict policies. Without ad revenue, I relied on donations, but they didn't generate meaningful revenue despite hundreds of weekly users. The donation model simply wasn't sustainable for covering operational costs, so I had to explore alternative funding approaches.
Rather than shut down or introduce hard paywalls, I created a freemium model that keeps FluentPrep AI accessible while ensuring sustainability:
